Join us at the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale and Puffin Sanctuary as a Facilities Supervisor and play a vital role in ensuring the safety, welfare and smooth running of this pioneering sanctuary.

About the Role

As Facilities Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all sanctuary facilities, both landside and bay-side. You’ll manage maintenance, training, and compliance across life support systems, infrastructure, and operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, animal welfare, and visitor experience. From open water operations to filtration systems, you’ll lead a team that supports the daily care of our belugas and puffins while ensuring the sanctuary runs efficiently and sustainably.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee bay-side operations including infrastructure maintenance, staff readiness, and emergency preparedness.
  • Manage daily life support systems (LSS), water quality, and habitat conditions across pools and displays.
  • Deliver training programmes for staff in diving, vessel handling and health and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting systems in line with zoo licensing and operational standards.
  • Lead on health, safety, and security for animal care and diving departments, ensuring risk assessments and safe practices are always in place.
  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships for animal welfare, food and enrichment supplies.
  • Oversee facilities budgets, procurement and cost-effective resource management.
  • Engage with visitors during suitable tasks to enhance the guest experience.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facilities management.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience.
  • Knowledge of working safely in open water environments.
  • Strong understanding of aquatic systems.
  • PADI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent) required, with ability to pass swim and endurance tests.
  • Confident working on boats and in open water.
  • Valid driving licence and clean record.
  • First Aid certification and clear criminal record check.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to inspire and lead by example.
